A clean environment contributes to a positive experience for our patients and their families, as well as our staff, physicians and volunteers. Activities include cleaning, mopping and dusting all hospital premises. Other duties include, but are not limited to, floor maintenance (scrubbing and waxing floors), shampooing carpets and chairs, removing waste (hazardous and general waste), cleaning chemical spills, laundry duties, room set-ups, window cleaning (interior), salt application during winter months, cleaning isolation rooms, cleaning floors and blood spills. The Environmental Services Worker will also work towards a healthier environment by reducing our carbon footprint and going “green” in line with the IWK strategy.Working hoursFlexible hours will be availableYour qualifications

  • Minimum grade of 12th grade or GED required.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is considered an asset.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and maintain unit operation in an organized, safe and clean manner.
  • Knowledge of family-centered care.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Remains responsible for own decisions and actions.
  • Operates autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in other languages ​​is considered an asset.
